Green Beach and Lake Edge Path

We won't stop long here at the beach, but I'll just share an interesting tidbit as we make our way along the lake edge path. Henry Fowle Durant, besides breeding rhododendrons, believed that Wellesley woman needed exercise as part of their education. He always walked briskly through campus, and hurried students along who weren't walking quickly enough. One student wrote in her journal that he told her and a friend, "You need to make the blood bound through your veins; that will stimulate the mind and help to make you good students."

If you look out on the lake, you might see seagulls or even an osprey. But let's continue along the edge of the lake until we come to the well-used path that leads to Tupelo Point.
