Summerbridge Tutor Coordinator Job Description
During Teacher Orientation: (June 18 - 27):
- Attend selected workshops regarding homework policies, management strategies, student climate, etc
- Cultivate positive, professional working relationships with teachers and staff
- Meet with Program Director to discuss summer logistics
- Create binders, training materials, and record-keeping systems for homework tutors.
- Co-facilitate a tutoring workshop
During the Six-Week Summer Program (June 30 - August 8):
- Volunteer at the Kennedy-Longfellow site on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, 12:30 – 4:30 pm. Friday special events are optional.
- Coordinate and supervise the work of 3-5 volunteer homework tutors during Homework Hut and Homework Center .
- Supervise tutors and work with students during Homework Center on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons, maintaining a positive, productive atmosphere;
- Work one-on-one with students at Homework Center, helping them with academics, organization, and work completion;
- Help teachers during Homework Hut, as necessary;
- Maintain open lines of communication with teachers and administrators regarding their students' performance;
- Submit reports to students' advisors on their academic progress and challenges.
- Meet weekly with the Dean of Students and Program Director about the Homework Tutoring program's progress and challenges.
- Participate actively at lunch, recess, Community Meeting, and Friday Special Events (optional);
