SCRAPIE

Errors in protein structure can lead to prion diseases such as Mad Cow Disease (BSE) in which it is believed that the disease form of the protein seeds the deformation of healthy protein. Kuru, scrapie and Creutzfeld-Jacob disease are also thought to be prion diseases.
