• For each census tract neighborhood, we developed an identical set of measures.
• We compared the local supply of child care and the local situation (in terms of concentration of poverty/low-income, working mothers with young children, TAFDC/TANF recipients, child abuse/neglect, one-parent families, and population density) against the median standard for the region.
