You may also propose your own project. Due next Friday.

Definition of Annual Giving:

Annual Giving is comprised of gifts for unrestricted use and current-use financial aid, and is budget-relieving for the current fiscal year.  Annual Giving funds are about 8% of the College’s annual budget and support ongoing investments in the following areas:

* Competitive salaries for a world-class faculty

* Financial aid for Wellesley students currently enrolled at the College

* Preservation of buildings and grounds

* Library acquisitions

* New educational technologies

* Flexibility to meet urgent needs and take advantage of unexpected opportunities

Every gift to Annual Giving makes a difference!

2015-2016 Fundraising Goals:

The Office for Annual Giving has been charged to raise $500 million dollars.

The $500 million campaign goal is consistent with Wellesley's leadership position; it would set a record among women’s colleges and place Wellesley in the forefront of all colleges. Today marks the start of the public phase of the campaign, which will extend through 2019. Thanks to the generosity of Wellesley's alumnae in the three years leading up to this public launch, a period known as the quiet phase, the College has already received commitments totaling $291 million.

This weekend, some 600 alumnae, parents, and friends of the College from all over the world will gather with our community for a celebration to mark the launch. The College's last major campaign, which ended in 2005, raised $472.3 million, setting the record at the time for the most funds raised by a liberal arts college.

Why alumnae participation in Annual Giving is important:

 * There is strength in numbers - many gifts add up to a large sum each year.

 * A high participation rate signals alumnae satisfaction with the institution and continued support of its mission.

* Foundations and corporations from whom we seek grants see annual alumnae giving as an indicator of a healthy institution worthy of additional support.

Purpose of Flash Solicitation Project:

The College reaches out to alumnae via e-mail, mail, and phone.  We would like to step-up our outreach to alumnae by using Flash solicitations to spread the message about the importance of Annual Giving.

Suggested Flash Themes:

a) Nostalgic

b) Unexpected (Funny)

c) Reunion-focused

d) Academic Experience/Wellesley Community

Assignment Details:
  • What to do:
    • Create a compelling flash advertisment related to the title of this assignment.
  • Tips:
    • Be sure to start early so you can bring your questions and problems to office hours.
    • Name your layers as soon as you create them. It'll be much easier than changing them all later. Make sure the names you choose are simple and easy to type. When you need to pick one little part of a complex image, it is MUCH easier to pick it by name than with the mouse.
    • Take the time to learn the keyboard shortcuts.
    • Last but not least - save EARLY and save OFTEN!
    •Be as creative as you want!
    •Look at other annual giving campaigns for inspiration.
