Some issues I see with gschem on Mac OSX

Here is a list of some issues that I've experienced
when using gschem on my mac (OS X 10.9.5).
In all cases, geda-gaf was built from source
(either 1.8.2 or 1.9.2 or the git head as of 2016 March 1st).

gschem not redrawing properly after select/deselct a component (v1.8.2)

After I deselect a component, the area around that part is not
rendered properly (darker gray instead of lighter gray).
To fix, I can zoom in or out, or force a redraw (with "V R").

gschem overbar notation (both v1.9.2 and git HEAD)

gschem v1.8.2	gschem git HEAD (though same in 1.9.2) Notice the very thick overbar. While not ideal, it's not a major issue	gaf PDF output (git HEAD, though same in 1.9.2) This IS a major issue!

gschem on launch (git HEAD version, though see same with 1.9.2)

This is what I see soon after launching gschem (1.9.2 or git HEAD).
  Notice that no menu or toolbar items are visible
  (except for "Add Busses Mode" which I have moused over).
