[All times are approximate!]

7:30 - Ignore alarm briefly, then drag self out of bed. Stumble into bathroom; shower; put on skirt, top, and black slides. Grab orange/pineapple juice box from mini fridge, lock door, and head downstairs. Wave at the friendly guard and scuttle down to the bus stop, only about a minute away.

8:15 - Climb on board bus 3B to Central. The route starts at here at the Pok Field Road station, so it's always empty to start with. Choose seat and whip out journal from backpack to write (with messy handwriting) during the ride. Making its way slowly downhill, the bus picks up throngs of HKers in suits, many of whom get off at the government offices station. Most of the rest, like me, wait until Landmark, right outside the downtown shopping complex of that name. Head down the escalator to the MTR, swipe Octopus card, and get on a train. Change at Yau Ma Tei for the green line to Kowloon Tong.

9:00 - Pass through Festival Walk mall on the way to City U, stopping at the Park 'N' Shop bakery to grab breakfast. (Run into supervisor Kathy, who's getting her daily fix of Pacific coffee.) Make way through the City U Academic Building up to the Division of Computer Studies. Smile at either old and gruff or young and cute guard, depending on the day and time. Unlock office. Wake up computer.

9:15 - 1:30 - Work on Web Tools for Learning, a web site under development. The finished project will serve as a resource for City U and other tertiary educators who which to increase their internet literacy and use of the Web in the classroom. Research valuable sites; organize information; design graphics. At 1:30ish, dash over to Festival Walk, usually to the food court (for fast and very bad Chinese and Japanese takeout) or Oliver's Super Sandwiches. Devour baked potato with broccoli, fruit salad, and guava juice. Hit Park 'N' Shop again for dessert (Pocky).

2:00 - 6:30 - Continue working on Web Tools. Pay a visit to the computer lab in the School of Creative Media to scan some photos. Sit in on planning meetings with Kathy, the SCM faculty, and Christine Choi as they plan the development of the School. Sneak in an email to parents and friends before leaving for the night. Say goodbye to old/gruff or young/cute guard.

6:30 - Fight the crowds down in the MTR station, grateful that they're not as bad as they would have been an hour ago. Ignore cute teenage couples engaging in public displays of affection on the train. Smile at cute small children, who stare back with wide, dark, serious eyes. Upon arriving at Central, fight the temptation to go to Causeway Bay before heading home. Lose.

7:00 - Emerge from the Causeway station into Sogo Department Store. Fight the temptation to buy something. Lose.

8:00 - Venture out onto the streets, wander in and out of stores on the way to the bus stop. Wait for Bus 23 back to Pok Field Road.

9:00 - Arrive back at Wong Chik Ting hall. Check mailbox hopefully; rejoice when there's a postcard from friends on the other side of the Pacific. Ride the elevator back up to the eighth floor. Once in room, crank up the air conditioner, put on a Cantonese tv show, and fix ramen. Eat it with fresh mango. Write postcards.

10:00 - Knock on Meara's door to see how her day was. Am boggled by her tales of confrontations with the hallmate (an HKU grad student) who seems to think we interns are perpetually waking him up. Call Malinda or Ting to check on meeting time for dinner tomorrow. Retreat to room and read manga.

11:00 - Crash.
