Arboretum

"But your little Alexandra, so fragile and brief in her time here, is unfolding and developing in that great garden yonder. Surely it must be so and I have wondered if a larger garden with its finer opportunities would not more adequately represent her today."
-Margaret C. Ferguson, in a 1920 memo to Mr. and Mrs. Severance, regarding the garden they gave to Wellesley College in memory of their six-year-old daughter, Alexandra. The Alexandra Botanic Garden and the Hunnewell Arboretum today contain more that a thousand beautiful, rare, and valuable plants.
