Historical Note
Wellesley College, first named The Wellesley Female Seminary, was founded in 1870 by Henry and Pauline Durant. In 1875, 314 students enrolled as part of the first class. 18 of those women graduated in 1879.
Scope and Contents
Papers of Elizabeth Perry, Class of 1893; dating from 1884, 1889-1893, 1896, 1898; consisting of essay, program and letters; concerning campus events, social activities, dorm room, method of assigning dorm rooms (Sophomore year), classes, visitors to campus, job offers and future plans (Senior year); including essay written by Elizabeth in 1884, occasional letters from Louise Sheldon and other friends to Elizabeth's mother, and occasional letters to or from Elizabeth's sister Polly.
