Description:

Records of Donald W. Height; Business Manager and Assistant Treasurer; dating from 1938 to 1952. (Prior to 1938 there was a business manager, an assistant treasurer, and a controller. After 1952 Donald Height became assistant treasurer and controller, and Irwin French became business manager.) Some of these records have been in dead storage; part had been processed in 1977 as 9D/1952-1956. The records consist of correspondence, reports, statements, receipts, forms, schedules, charts, balance sheets, accounts, wills, policies, plans, blueprints, minutes and contracts. In the original filing system correspondence was filed alphabetically by name of vendor. This arrangement was changed to an alphabetical by subject filing system to facilitate access to the material.

These records are concerned with the acquisition, building and maintenance of the real property of the College; the acquisition, maintenance and expenditure of funds; hiring, job assignment, insuring, salaries, union, and pensioning of College employees; arrangements for use of the campus by outside groups, general financial affairs, and most non-academic business affairs; with material of special interest on buildings, faculty housing, conferences and conventions held on campus, the organization of employees’ union, gifts and bequests including the Manwaring estate, and dealings with the International Revenue Service.
