ARTS 260 Moving Image Studio

ARTS 260 This course is an intensive, media production course exploring the moving image from its roots in photography and film to the expanding digital domain of ‘new media’. Our focus will be on experimental, artistic practice using various methods of animation, video and motion graphics. This is not a traditional film production class!

The focus on non-linear narrative, communication design and visual expression within the artistic and cultural properties of time-based media pose interesting questions: What is the relationship of moving images to narrative? What possibilities and problems that arise in the age of new media? What is the role of the individual artist within an industry-dominated media?

Our production tools will primarily focus on Premier and After Effects, and will include other imaging and audio programs, and will compile your projects in a final project. You will be required to purchase a sketchbook for this class, and your creative engagement here will be an important aspect to the class Distribution: Arts,Music, Theatre, Film,Video Semester:N/O Unit: 1.0
