Reading

• Read Section 12.5 in the text. Pay particular attention to:
  • Examples 1 and 2 and the discussion that precedes them
  • The catalog of surfaces on p 593 (especially helpful for the ones we have not yet discussed in class)
  • The discussion on p594, which compares and contrasts two roles that a surface might play:
    • it could be a level surface for a function w = g(x,y,z)
    • it could be a graph for a function z = f(x,y)
• Read Section 12.6.
  
• Review Section 12.4 as needed. Perhaps make your own outline or study guide for the section.
