Schedule of Work for Final Paper

Click Here to Go to a List Of Possible Final Paper Topics with Suggested Readings and Web Sites

By September 17 , you should have located two high quality web sites on topics that you are considering for your final paper. Turn in a citation for the site (use either APA or MLA format) and a brief description (a couple of sentences) of the content of the site and an evaluation of the quality and reliability of the site. Use the RITE evaluation system  to assess the quality of the web that you locate independently.

By September 21 , you should have located two legal sources and two economic articles on your topic. You will turn in full citations in APA, MLA or legal citation style for the four sources you have chosen and a brief description of each of the four sources.

You will be required to turn in a draft introduction for your final paper by October 8.  So you need to start thinking about your paper topic immediately. Your midterm which requires you to make substantial progress on your paper is due October 19 and your final paper is due the December 21

Recall that you will need to use either econometric techniques or cost-benefit analysis for your final paper. I have placed a good description of cost-benefit analysis from Stiglitz's Economics of the Public Sector on E-Reserve. I have also put examples of well done final papers in the folder "Final Papers-F08" in the Econ325 First Class conference.

Below are  hyperlinks for two Law & Economics final papers that use econometrics.

  No-Fault Divorce and Its Effects

  The Organ Donation Crisis

I have put a number of other papers in subfolders in the FirstClass conference. You should review the papers in the subfolders on the topics that interest you. Important: I only began requiring papers that use quantitative methods in the Fall of 2003. Papers that do not use quantitative methods cannot be used as templates for your final paper although they may give you ideas for your final paper.
