Science Club for Girls – Reverse Science Fair, Saturday, Sept. 26, 2-4 p.m., KSC, Wellesley College
Wellesley students will create an interactive display that engages the young student in the field of anatomical medicine. Students will meet prior to the event to discuss their ideas. Time commitment – 2 hours plus the event
Sports Medicine Extravaganza – November 21, 1:00-4:00 p.m. (may include hosting a student overnight to get the full college experience), Wellesley College
Wellesley students will present a lecture/discussion that has a lab component that is interactive and involves hands-on learning. Students will meet in groups to discuss the lecture/lab components. The students will watch an athletic event and will observe the athletes for biomechanical efficiency and possible injuries. Hosting a student overnight in order to gain the full college experience is also desired. Time commitment – planning meetings (3 – 1.5 hours) plus overnight hosting
Teaching: Spring semester – after school or Saturday programs
Students will design a lesson plan and work with Connie Bauman and Jocelyn Dolce on the preparation of the unit plans. A variety of lesson planning models are available for reference: simple version , Intel Teaching model template and an example for this model..
After school opportunities in Cambridge are 2-hour commitments ranging from 2:30-4:30 (not including travel time - 2 hours)
Saturdays: in Newton from 2:00-4:00 p.m. (travel time – 1 hour)
Transportation: zip car, CWS vehicles, public transportation
